Glacier Gardens at Juneau, Alaska

Wherever I go, I like to visit local gardens and nurseries. to learn a thing or two from the professionals. My Alaska trip was no exception. While I was on my trip to Alaska, I visited the Glacier Gardens at Juneau. Upside down flower towers are the trademark of Juneau's Glacier Gardens. Flower towers are made by recycled large tree stumps, which are inverted and lined with a net to support the soil to create a garden on top.

Flower towers are made from an inverted tree trunk like this.

Hanging baskets in this garden are nothing like I have ever seen. Next year's project is to emulate something like this.

We went on a trolley to the top of the hill.

Words cannot describe the beauty of this view.

  8. Gorgeous photos from the Juneau gardens. The upside down trees with the flowers planted are gorgeous. My son and I took this excursion when we took our Alaska cruise. The golf cart ride up the mountain was fun and the view is beautiful.
