Peanut Chaat

Peanut chaat is served as a snack at bars in India. It's the perfect snack to eat on a rainy day or any time of the day. This chaat is served in Japanese pottery dishes on a rustic bamboo tray, with a nod to Japanese serenity and a wink at  Indian authenticity, a typical Komali Nunna style.

Peanut Chaat Recipe
Serves 6
• 1 ½ cups roasted, shelled peanuts
• 1/2 cup chopped red onion
• 2 tablespoons lime juice
• salt to taste
• 1 - 3 minced fresh green chilies, such as serrano
• 4 tablespoons chopped cilantro
• 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala powder, homemade or store bought
Gently toss all the ingredients together. Serve in individual bowls as an appetizer.

Cook's note:  Chaat masala powder can be found at Indian grocery stores or the recipe can be found in my book.

  1. Looks very appetizing. I would need to look up how to make the powder, but we like peanuts and this could be a great way to serve them. Thanks for sharing!

  2. You never fail to entertain and teach me something. This sounds very good and healthy too! I am going to be near an ethnic Indian grocery store today and just may try to find the powder.
