Coleus

Every spring, I religiously plant my favorite coleus in my backyard patio. If you plant flowering vines, they don't bloom all the time whereas coleus are bright and colorful all summer long. Coleus are the best way to bring color to your patio. For today's post, I want to share a corner of my patio right next to my kitchen. Shall I call this my patioscape?

These orange flowers are called crossandra (Sundance), a childhood favorite of mine while growing up in India. Pink flowers are Martha Washington geraniums.

  1. Coleus are one of my favorite annuals to plant each year. Love your combination of colors and leaf textures and the crossandra and geranium.

  3. What a lovely combination of colors for your patio!! The coleus are gorgeous! We have them here in Louisiana but mine always seem to die out by mid-summer! Either the temps where you live make growing them so luscious-looking, or your THUMB is much greener than mine!! LOL I suspect a little of both...
    Thanks for sharing.....Francy

  8. Hi Komali! I totally agree with you that coleus provide so much color all season with their LEAVES. No disappointment like a flower that only blooms and gives color a couple of weeks a season. YOU have so many interesting varieties in you patioscape...it is just a feast for the eyes. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures with us.

  9. What a nice view you have from your kitchen. I agree. Coleus is easy to grow especially if one wants fast, long lasting color. Happy PS!

  10. I have to plant at least one coleus each year (this year I have 5). I think they add an exotic look to the garden. The Martha Washington geranium s very pretty. I haven't seen one of those before.
