Yesterday, the yoga center in my town celebrated its 10th anniversary. Proceeds from the event benefited the RAIN community, a local transitional living center for homeless families. Entertainment was provided by the very special guest, singer/songwriter Donna DeLory (www.donnadelory.com), who sang kirtans all evening.
I was honored to be chosen as the event coordinator, responsible for a 200 people dessert buffet.
Platters were assembled on the kitchen counter at the event site
Mango mousse with pomegranate-berry sauce was a great hit at the party
Savory spanakopitas were added to the menu to offset all the sweet dishes
The stage was set for the buffet and was made ready to assemble the food. Ornate risers were used to display the desserts.
Since it was a yoga celebration, I wanted to bring serenity to the table with garden flowers and Eastern figurine candle holders.
Arranging platters on the table
The recipe for fruit tarts and mango mousse can be found in my book, Entertaining From an Ethnic Indian Kitchen. Sorry for the blurry pictures. It was hard to photograph, while the crowd was impatiently waiting to dig into these pastries.
I was grateful to be part of a meaningful celebration.
