Kitchen garden abundance

My kitchen garden has done very well this year. I guess investing in raised beds has paid off. The most important thing is that now I don't have any problems with garden pests like rabbits or gophers. For me, that is worth the investment. Here in Southern California, September and October are very busy months for gardening and harvesting. I have been very busy with harvesting, canning, preserving, making pickles and jams. More on that subject later...

I like to include marigolds in kitchen garden to attract beneficial insects, such as ladybugs, and repel unwanted insects.

This is called a ridge gourd. It tastes something similar to zucchini,  a popular vegetable from Southern India.

Trader Joe's Simply Indian (both printed and kindle version) is available to buy at Amazon.
