Entertaining

If you missed my post about getting the garden ready for the party, please click here
On the day of the party, I harvested hydrangeas and carrot wood flowering branches to make centerpieces.

Homegrown centerpiece

Guests were offered three different flavors of rice, lemon rice, tomato pulao and cilantro pulao along with different curries to customize their meal. The menu was created based on what is available from the kitchen garden. All of these recipes are from both my cookbooks, Entertaining From an Ethnic Indian Kitchen and Trader Joe's Simply Indian.

My daughter was making sure everything was set up right

Now that the food is all set up, I am ready to mingle with the guests

After the garden tour, the guests were socializing and catching up with one another

I know I should have photographed the appetizer and dessert spread. But I was too busy to think about pictures.

For more memorable centerpieces, tablescapes, and recipes (including vegetarian, gluten free and vegan recipes), please check out my books, Entertaining From an Ethnic Indian Kitchen and Trader Joe's Simply Indian at my website komalinunna.com.

  3. Your flowers are beautiful. I'm a fan of that particular one, too.
Also, the tomato garbanzo salad looks so yummy. I didn't see a recipe link for that one so I'm going to do a search at my favorite recipe site. I am hungry for it now.

  6. Looks like fun and the food looks delicious! I understand about no photo of the appetizer - it is so hard to remember to take photos, when you are hosting a dinner or party. Beautiful job!
